Learning to look Ayurvedic

Ayurvedische leren kijken met een ayurveda consult in onze praktijk in Groningen van retreat center The Land of Now

If you read anything about Ayurveda, you quickly read something about constitution types. Often there are amusing tests in magazines or books that give an indication of what you would be like. Fortunately, you are more complex than a list of characteristics in a short test. Usually the result of such a test only says something about the situation at that moment and does not give a fully substantiated and personal advice for your unique situation.

Of course, such a test is mostly fun and certainly fun to be inspired for a change! It may give you a first insight or interest in how your metabolism reacts, your strengths and your weaknesses. And that just might be a step on your way to balance.

Within Ayurveda there are multiple fields of study with literature, current research and specializations. Ayurveda was officially recognized as a medicine by the WHO (World Health Organization) in 1977, noting that it often offers solutions where Western medicine stops. Therefore, those who study Ayurveda soon discover that one lifetime may not be enough to learn everything there is to learn and that a person cannot be pigeonholed or schematized: you are unique. And that requires a person-centered approach.

A doctor or therapist can guide you in this, and you yourself, with a little knowledge about Ayurveda, can do many small things that promote balance in your system. A good doctor or therapist does not only treat, but also educates. So that not only the problem you came for is solved, but perhaps even more important: that you prevent problems in the future.
